Brandt Behavioral Health Treatment Center and Retreat on Cook campus

The ACE Mentor Program of New Jersey recently held its 26th Annual Scholarship Dinner. In addition to awarding scholarships to students, the group honored the Rutgers Brandt Behavioral Health Treatment Center and Retreat Project at this year’s event.

The ACE Mentor Program is a volunteer, nationwide organization that encourages high school students to pursue careers in architecture, construction, and engineering.

While student scholarships are the main focus of the event, each year, the ACE Mentor Program of New Jersey also recognizes outstanding projects, firms, or individuals who exemplify excellence and innovation within the industry.

This year, the ACE Board of Directors said that the Brandt project powerfully reflects Rutgers’ deep commitment to student behavioral health, research, and education, making a lasting impact on today’s students and shaping tomorrow’s professionals.

Nicholas Fabbroni, Assistant Vice President IP&O Project Services, and Laura Berman, IP&O’s Assistant Vice President Planning Development and Design, attended the dinner on behalf of Rutgers. Fabbroni commented on how the project touched 40 to 50 architects and engineers from conception to occupancy, and at its peak there were some 225 trades and/or construction workers on site, giving the students an idea of the depth of these capital projects.
