Strategic Services

Strategic Services

The Strategic Services group is responsible for coordinating and uniting the efforts of IP&O’s individual units statewide. This involves operating and integrating the work management systems that provide the data the division needs for business efficiencies, as well as short- and long-term planning. This data is also provided to the university’s senior leadership and used in the preparation of numerous documents for university boards.

Employees

IP&O employees represent about ten percent of the Rutgers workforce. Union, non-union, and rotating shifts, our employees drive our 24/7/365 operation. Employee Services develops, maintains, and follows its Standard Operating Procedures to address all employee concerns, onboarding activities, and employment lifecycle. Additional employee support is delivered through the myPath Training and Employee Development unit. myPath provides ESL classes, mock interviews, and systems training, ensuring that our employees are fully prepared for their roles.

Communications

Communications and Marketing ensures that IP&O’s 2,800 employees receive timely and informed communications about our division. Our group produces an internal newsletter, designs and maintains the IP&O website, we produce a monthly university-wide bulletin of services and events, and we lend our expertise to schools and units around the university for website assistance, graphic design, photography, videography, and drone footage. Our Data Analyst communicates volumes of data through interactive dashboards, providing vital information to leadership in a concise format.

Systems

Just as IP&O provides the university with the tools it needs for operational excellence, Strategic Services’ Systems group provides IP&O with the tools it needs to increase efficiencies. The FCA group maintains and monitors assets critical to deferred maintenance budgets; the Service Center fields statewide requests for maintenance and services; Systems Control and Support identifies software systems to improve workflow.

IWMS Administration is responsible for optimizing the practical use of workplace computerized system resources, providing the best possible user experience when interacting with those resources, evaluating, and supporting the effort required to choose the best systems, and managing the physical asset portfolio across the entire division of IP&O. In support of these responsibilities, IWMS Administration has a team of professionals who interact with all internal and external partners to explore technology, develop strategies, implement initiatives, manage system use guidance and governance, provide stewardship for physical assets, and assist with coordinating all associated activities.
